Getting Spam Calls about Medicare? Check Out these Tips!
If you’re getting a lot of spam calls about Medicare plans or additional Medicare Benefits, you’re not alone. It can be frustrating to receive so many calls, especially when you don’t know who’s calling. Check out the following tips to navigate these kinds of calls.

Don’t give out your personal information to people claiming to be from your Insurance Company
This includes your Social Security Number and your Medicare number. If they were actually calling from your insurance provider, they would already have this information on file. If they ask for a Social or MBI, they are attempting to change your plan, meaning it’s a sales call.

Make sure you know all the plan details before switching
If a plan offers an OTC or healthy food card with a high dollar amount, it’s possible it has a smaller benefit than your current plan in another area, or may not cover doctors out of the company’s network. Know what’s important to you before making a change.

Tell unauthorized solicitors that they are out of compliance
Medicare Insurance Agents are not allowed to call you without your consent. Marketers will send you a card in the mail asking if you are receiving all your benefits, and returning this card gives them permission to contact you. If you never gave permission, tell the caller they are out of compliance.

Block callers that aren’t in your contacts list
If you have a smart phone, there is an option in your settings to block all incoming calls from unknown numbers. You can also download call screening apps. If you’re getting calls on your home phone, call your phone company and see if they’re able to block unknown numbers for you.

Call your Agent to verify your eligibility for additional benefits
If some of the benefits a solicitor calls about sound interesting, contact your Medicare agent to ensure they are real and if you qualify. Eversure Agents are licensed with multiple providers, meaning they can change your plan to whichever company you prefer and find the best plan options for your situation.
